LITE as a ginormous hot air balloon...

Last Thursday, Nov. 5, some LITE members visited the Rage scholarship fundraiser on the Quad. The special thing about this fundraiser, though, was the HUGE hot air balloon people could ride. Unfortunately for our LITE team, good looks weren't enough to swing a pricey trip, but we were happy to support the fundraiser and promote LITE to students relaxing on the Quad. We handed out brochures and candy to over 50 students, and even signed up volunteers on the spot! That was definitely the good looks. See our pics below! Doesn't it look fun?

Take me to Oz, Dorothy! Wonderful, classic children's novel. Unfortunately, 40% of 4th graders in Alabama can't read up to grade level. And consequently, 40% of 4th graders in Alabama won't graduate high school.

Caitlin, on the right with the backpack, is the LITE treasurer. She's also the best person to ever come up and harass you about volunteering. She's super nice and has candy, kids, don't be afraid! This group actually came up to her to say that they loved her spill so much, they wanted to sign up immediately. Way to go, Caitlin!!

Way to go Team LITE!

Next time, we'll take a trip around Tuscaloosa to shout across the rooftops about the importance of literacy as a foundation to our society and the well-being of mankind.

Roll Tide!
